I think everyone within our honor society was blissfully happy that the chaos of the Spring quarter had given way to a bright and hot UC Davis Summer, but we still knew our work was far from over. The current Prytanean board made sure to stay in touch over the summer months, and we successfully mt with the UC Berkeley Prytanean chapter over zoom in order to coordinate and plan events for the upcoming fall year. UC Davis Prytanean chose to partner with UC Berkley Prytanean partially because of our shared values of female leadership, educating girls, and community service. Our first meeting was held on a crisp Sunday afternoon, and it was a 30 minutes jam packed with ideas of how to serve others within both of our communities. Usually both chapters do socials, but this year both chapters agreed that we wanted to be more purposeful in their interactions with each other and their community. Ideas such as a leadership forum, an event that reaches beyond just the two chapters and connected women who are students and professors throughout the communities were discussed. Other ideas such as fundraising on a larger scale seemed to stick. We debated on whether to fundraise for CalFresh, an organization that provides wildfire relief, helping the homeless, and helping others with food insecurities. The meeting ended on a happy note, with members from both boards agreeing to research more about CalFresh and scheduling another meeting in two weeks on the 25th.
