After a year or so away from school, UC Davis was graced with the return of our Prytanean women to in person classes. While the class locations had changed from last quarter, here in Prytanean our values of friendship, leadership, service and diversity remained steadfast. Our Fall quarter started off with a bang, with an Involvement Fair and an Info Night led by Cayley Chan and Cayla Hanson. Our efforts to speak to potential new Prytanean Members were not in vain, and our first in person general meeting was a success! At the meeting, we talked about our summers, played an epic game of rock paper scissors, and made official member introductions.
Now with the intros out of the way, we quickly got to work. Our Service VP, Patrice Delara, spearheaded service activities throughout the Fall Quarter including the Stocking Project with Empower YOLO, and Brown Bag Lunches. We also had a multitude of fundraisers planned by our Financial VP Sonyia Williams, including the Huntington Beach Wetlands Conservatory fundraiser, the Blaze Pizza Fundraiser, and the Davis Period X Joan Viteri Memorial Clinic Thanksgiving Drive. Our Social VP, Chloe Porath, hosted in person and online socials throughout the quarter so we could get to know our fellow Pryts better. All of our members were updated and kept in the loop through our instagram @davisprytanean that is run by our Webmaster, Lauren Cometa. Towards the end of the quarter, members from Fall 2020 as well as Fall 2021 were all initiated together in person at our yearly Initiation Ceremony. We even sold some Prytanean merchandise at the event, which was advertised and designed by Genesis Navarro, our Publicity Chair.
Overall, Prytanean had another successful and productive quarter. We bonded with our fellow sisters, did fundraising and service projects, and got reacquainted with the Davis community. Honestly, we all just really missed our school. We missed walking around the Arboretum and enjoying the autumnal foliage. We missed the crisp, chilly Davis Fall weather. Most of all, we missed the warm Davis community environment. It’s safe to say, that the Prytanean women are really glad to be back in town.
